Chapter 13 - Mireu, Sen

October 25, 2013 - Mireu

When I drove into the underground garage at Sanang House, the only empty spot I saw was my own. Apparently, I was the last one to return. And I’d thought I’d be here before the others since I’d left Sen a few hours earlier than necessary. The truth was, I didn’t leave early due to my need to get here sooner. I’d crept out of my house like a thief because I didn’t have the courage to say goodbye. If I’d had to face him, I wasn’t sure if I’d have been able to leave.

I took the stairs to the main floor two at a time. It would be good to see the others again. I was feeling empty inside after having left my life mate sleeping. And my dragon hadn’t come out of hiding since last night. He’d been miffed at me before, but never like this. He hadn’t even made a peep when the Ankeneh mating bond had wrapped itself around the one he’d created.

Mr. Nam, Saem, Jee, and Bin were sitting in the living room drinking tea when I walked in. I paused on my way to my room.

“Where’s Hwa? His car is here.”

“He left his car here. His plane was delayed, but he should be here any minute.” Bin gestured toward the teapot. “Want some tea?”

“In a bit. If we’re not starting yet, let me put my bag in my room.”

Saem sniffed. “Did you come straight from your house?” He narrowed his eyes. He’d smelled something. As a tiger shifter, he had the best sense of smell among us.

“Yes. I just drove over.”

He sniffed again and lifted an eyebrow. Had he smelled Sen? He must have smelled something since he gave me a questioning look, but thankfully, he said nothing. I was not ready to explain Sen’s presence in my life. Just in case, I took another shower when I got back to my room, a longer and more thorough one than the one I’d taken at the house.

When I returned, Bin had already poured me a cup of tea and Hwa was sitting around the coffee table rubbing his eyes tiredly.

“Stop rubbing your eyes. You’re going to have rabbit eyes,” Bin chided gently. “Do you want some eye drops?”

Hwa shook his head. “Nope. I’m good. I’m just tired. I had to get a commercial flight since my parents weren’t planning to be back until later. It was a nightmare since I had no chance to dye my hair black. You know how noticeable I am with this dark red hair. Thank goodness no one knows it’s natural. Well, I hid out in the VIP lounge at the airport, then had to wear a hat, sunglasses, and a mask the entire flight. People were looking at me like I was a criminal. On top of that, the flight was delayed for hours. We sat on the tarmac the whole time. I’m actually happy to be back, though. Being on a vacation with my parents with no one else as a buffer was awful.
